DeWayne Falk

August 13, 1920 — August 23, 2015

DeWayne Holt Falk passed away on August 23, 2015 at his home in Tremonton, Utah.   He was born on August 13, 1920 in Ogden, Utah to George Emanuel Falk & Marion Olive Holt.

Left Fatherless at age 6 with two older Brothers, Rex and George - His nick name was "Dude".  The three boys grew up in Ogden, Utah raised by their widowed mother Marion Olive Holt.  At age of 21 he served a mission for the LDS Church to the Eastern States severing in New York and Pennsylvania. After returning from his mission, He entered the Air Force in August 1943 He later became a Sergeant and served in the Pacific Theater on a B-24 bomber as a radio operator for the duration of WWII.  He met his wife, (Mary) Barbara Tait, while stationed in the air force in Southern California.  They were married in the SLC temple on April 29, 1946 settling in Tremonton, Utah.  She passed away on October 23, 2013.

He worked at Fronk's and Sandall motor company until 1959 at which time he became the manager of Cowley's and then Owner of Falk's Department Store.  After retiring from his store in 1986, he worked part time at both Ewer Plumbing and D&B Electric for a number of years as well as driving bus for the Box Elder County School district where he was affectionately known as "The Candy Bus Driver".  DeWayne was always giving service to either his family, church or community.  He was a member of the Lion's Club for 55 years and member of the American Legion serving as part of the Honor Guard.  He served on the city council for three terms and served on the Chamber of Commerce.  DeWayne was awarded the Andy Rytting Community Service Award in 1984.

He was very active in the LDS Church serving as Bishop, Bishop's Councilor, Executive Secretary, High Councilman, Stake and Ward Sunday School President, Scout Master and High Priest Group Leader.  DeWayne was called with his wife to serve a two year stake mission serving as Ward Mission Leader of his ward.  He loved His Heavenly Father, his family and the people in the Bear River Valley.

He is survived by three sons and one daughter and their spouses, (1) Dennis and Barbara (Barger) Falk of Ogden Utah, (2) John and LuAnn (Rallison) Falk of Portland, Oregon, (3) David and Ilene (Udy) Falk (Deceased) of Dallas, Texas and Lauri Falk and Ron Hawkins of Tremonton, Utah, 19 Grandchildren and 36 Great- Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton 1st Ward LDS Chapel (166 N. Tremont St.). Viewings will be held on Friday evening August 28, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. and prior to the service from 9:30- 10:30 a.m. Both viewings will be held at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E., Tremonton, UT).
