Alfred J. Moore (Larry) Moore
Larry Moore
Feb. 6, 1934 – March 26, 2013
“Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth, and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings. And, while with silent lifting mind I’ve trod the high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
On March 26, 2013 Larry, our warrior aviator, husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather serenely passed on the eagerly waiting arms of his parents, other loved ones, and the Savior. His passing was serene, but true to form, he battled cancer with the courage and dignity that epitomized his life.
Larry was born Feb. 6, 1934 in Tremonton, Utah to Earl Moore and Pearl Morgan. He married his eternal companion Frances Potts on the 31st of December 1953. They were later sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.
Graduated from Morgan High School in 1952. While attending Morgan High School, he was named to the 1951 Utah All State Football team. We said that he was a warrior!
Larry loved the military and his country. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1952. As a crew chief on C124’s, C130’s, and C123’s, he traveled through all 50 states, and 41 different countries. He flew 147 combat missions in Korea and Vietnam. He retired in 1972, but continued to serve as a maintenance scheduler at Hill AFB for the next 20 years. He completed his career of service by driving a school bus for the Bear River School District. He got a real chuckle when one of the school youngsters asked if “he had ever been in an airplane.” Larry loved to learn as well. He earned four bachelor degrees from Weber State University, with cum laude honors.
Larry loved to hunt and fish. The fish at East Canyon Reservoir are resting a lot easier today. He loved to attend the sporting events that his children and grandchildren were participating in.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and a special grandfather, A.J. Morgan. Survivors include his wife Frances, brothers Allen Long, Steven Moore, Sisters DeLoris Cayias, Revona Stone .
