Alice Lazetta Thompson Weidman passed away peacefully May 28, 2014 at her home. She was born March 10, 1925 in Tremonton UT to Leland and Mary Thompson and was raised in Tremonton and Garland. She graduated from Bear River High School in 1942. She married Wayne Weidman on September 5, 1949 in Tremonton, Utah.
Alice worked for First Security Bank for many years. She later worked for the U.S Postal service for 25 years and was the postmaster at the Tremonton Office for 18 of those years. She enjoyed interacting with the many employees and customers that she met there. She served as president of the Skyway Women’s Golf Auxiliary and treasurer for the Women’s Civic League.
Alice was a talented artist and loved to paint. She enjoyed many outings with her friends to paint the beautiful scenery of the Grand Tetons and other locations. Those oil paintings hang in the homes of her family.
Alice loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to travel and see new places. Those closest to her enjoyed her sense of humor and caring nature.
Alice has been a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served for over 20 years as a ward librarian.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents Leland and Mary, her husband Wayne, and brothers Reid, Neil and Gordon Thompson. Alice is survived by her sons: John (Cynthia), Elwood, Utah; Drew (Shauna), Layton, Utah and Lee (Londa), Salem, Oregon; and six grandchildren; Elise, Carson, Devin, Brayden, Connor and Myah. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Tiffany and Joclynn for providing excellent care that allowed Alice to stay in her home until she passed. They would also like to thank the IHC and CNS hospice staff and Dr. Todd Miller for their care. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to the Primary Children’s Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Tremonton Sixth Ward Chapel, 600 North 300 East, Tremonton, Utah. Viewings will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 6-8 pm at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, Utah, and prior to the funeral from 9:30 – 10:30 at the Sixth Ward chapel. Interment will be at the Bear River City Cemetery.
