Andrew “Duain” Madsen, 84, passed away on June 2, 2012 in Tremonton, Utah. Duain was born on February 4, 1928 in Tremonton, Utah to Amasa L. Madsen and Myrtle B. Madsen. He married Barbara Nielson, June 8, 1945, who later passed away. They had 3 sons, whom he loved dearly. He later married Ladee Stokes on December 18, 1979, in Coeur d`Alene, Idaho. Duian lived in Tremonton, Utah; Coeur d`Alene, Idaho; and Gold Canyon, Arizona, but traveled for 30 years on the rodeo circuits. He was a high school graduate and owned a contracting business. Duain built beautiful homes, churches and bridges. He also had a performing business, Madsen Rodeo Acts, which he performed throughout the US for 30 years with his prized appaloosa horses and trained pulling sheep. Duain retired from Madsen Rodeo Acts in 1998 at age 72. Some of his achievements were receiving the Andy Womack Award, a trophy saddle, from the Phoenix JC’s. He participated in opening ceremonies for the NFR (1985-1998). He was a part of the feature performers at the 1990 Cherokee Iowa round up and was featured on a special made belt buckle for the rodeo. He was proud that he showed in some of the largest Rodeos; Houston Livestock show, Denver, CO. Tucson, AZ. and the Calgary Stampede. After retiring Duain offered carriage rides for weddings, funerals, and neighborhood children. He was a member of the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Posse, and was a charter member of the Plymouth Roping Club. He also worked for Tremonton City and was proud that he oversaw the new water and sewer lines that were installed in the 70’s. Duain is survived by his wife Dee Madsen; two sons, Jerry (Mary) Madsen and Bob (Abbey) Madsen; a daughter-in-law, Risee’ Madsen; 5 grandchildren, Richie Madsen, Randey (Colleen) Madsen, Joe Madsen, Sarah Madsen and Sidney Madsen; 5 great grandchildren, Issac, Hannah, Trevor, Lauren and Rachael; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Barbara Jean Nielson Madsen; a son, Richard Duain Madsen; his twin brother, John Blain Madsen; 2 brothers Dean Madsen and Kay Madsen; and a sister Vion Mainland. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Hospice Care of Northern Utah, Ileene Wood, Holly Peters, Jeff Skinner, Dwayne Murphy, Jeff Madsen and all their many family, friends and neighbors. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 11:00 am, at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 N 100 E, Tremonton, UT. Viewings will be held Thursday, June 7, 2012 from 6-8 pm at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home and prior to the funeral from 9:30-10:30 am. Interment will be held at the Riverview (Tremonton) Cemetery.
