Anna Mae Hansen Hunsaker, 93, passed away on January 25, 2016 in Tremonton, Utah. She was born on December 16, 1922 in Elwood, Utah to Ephraim Peter and Carrie Jeanette Hansen.
Anna grew up in Elwood, she worked hard in the fields working beside her father. She attended schools in the Box Elder School District, graduating from Bear River High School. Anna met and married Keith William Hunsaker in Malad, Idaho and together they raised 7 children in Honeyville, Utah. She always wanted to be a teacher, but chose the noblest education – motherhood.
Moms work ethic was passed to her children, she was so very proud of her family- her most treasured accomplishment. Mom was a nurse at the original Bear River Valley Hospital for many years with so many fond memories and friendships.
After Keith passed away in 1975, Anna served a proselyting mission in the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission in 1988. She worked in the Ogden temple for 20+ years. She enjoyed the extraction program and gave valiant efforts to the indexing program up until her death. Mom had the ability to play the piano by ear, never learning to read music, always humming.
Mom’s interests and accomplishments included wallpapering, sewing and canning; she made sure all of our pantries were filled with food, Tupperware and HONEY!!! Fruitcakes were her specialty for Christmas. Grandkids enjoyed making cookies, playing on the ditch bank and swimming at the natatorium with her. She loved to be outside doing yardwork, irrigating, and keeping beautiful rose bushes. Mom was an avid horse woman and enjoyed hunting with her family. She became her own cut & wrap store for venison, bottling fish, and making use of the bounties of nature. The annual hunting trips were not complete without moms special cinnamon rolls, raisin filled cookies and banana bread.
Her talents were so many and she brought joy and happiness to us all. We will all remember her selfless love, endurance, hard work and acceptance. Last but not least, her candy making skills offered fudge, divinity, and homemade ice cream. Heaven received an Elect Lady today!
The family would like to offer a special thanks to mom’s caregivers, Tremonton Hospital Staff and the Tremonton 10th Ward. Many thanks also to those who have shared a visit, a smile or “Hello” to mom, (they did not go unnoticed), rides to the temple or family history.
Anna is survived by her children, Kent (Jean) McIntire, Yvonne (Mike) Hulce, Keith (Carolyn) Hunsaker, Janeal Jensen, Janiece (Don) McClellan, Dan W. (Thetis) Hunsaker, Jill (Todd) Lish; son-in-law, Lynn Folkman ; 33 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; daughter, Doris; 3 brothers & 2 sisters; 2 granddaughters, Michelle and Tonya; 1 grandson, Kent Jr.; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at the Honeyville LDS Church (2620 W. 6980 N. - Honeyville, UT) there will be a viewing prior to the funeral from 10:00-11:30 am at the church.
Mom, the Lord has finally called you home, Dad & Doris and grandkids have been waiting for this day. Time to put down the gardening tools, tuck the rolling pin in a drawer and kiss the kids pictures one last time. A woman of great faith and strength, we LOVE you!
