Betty Marie Shuman Adams Thurman was born on October 6, 1926 in Brigham City, Utah to Titus Foy and Clara Marie Ussing Shuman. She passed away on June 12, 2012. Betty’s childhood was spent in Penrose, Utah, and she graduated from the eighth grade there. The family then moved to Lodi, California where she completed her high school education. Betty married Vern C. Adams on September 3, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were later divorced. She married Glenn H. Thurman on April 1, 1990. Betty and Vern were the parents of six children: Roger, Dell, and Valrei Adams, Becky Johnson, Robyn Austin, and Tresa West. She was a member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities. She learned how to work at a very young age and continued to work hard throughout her life. She enjoyed cooking, was an expert seamstress, loved to read, enjoyed bowling, tended beautiful roses, and was a good friend to many. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Reid Shuman. She is survived by four sisters, Virginia Anderson, Patricia Webb, Eloise Morrison, Kathy Tolman and two brothers: Curtis and Frank Shuman. The family wishes to express appreciation to the nursing staff at Willowglen Nursing and Rehab in Brigham City for their compassionate care and service. Funeral services will be held at the Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, UT on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Deweyville cemetery.
