Bonnie Godfrey

Fielding- Bonnie Ruth Hess Godfrey, 86, passed away in Tremonton on September 23, 2014. She was born December 27, 1927 in Garland, Utah the daughter of Franklin Wallace and Alice Morse Hess.

Bonnie graduated from Bear River High School in 1946. She spent all of her life living in Fielding with the exception of a few years spent in Clarkston. She married Darrell LaMar Godfrey on September 12, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple.

She grew up on the family farm helping her father with many of the farm chores and work. She was a wonderful mother, devoting her life to her children and grandchildren. Her biggest achievements are her five children, twenty one grandchildren and fifty three great grandchildren. She was very proud of each one of them. She taught her posterity the importance of hard work. She loved her beautiful flowers and vegetable garden, quilting, crocheting and family histories. She has completed many family histories. Many have been the recipient of one of her beautiful crocheted dollies. She assisted Darrell on the farm providing extra hands as required. She and Dad supported the Indian Placement program. Her church service included the Relief Society. Temple Worker and Sunday School Teacher. She faithfully endured to the end by fulfilling her most recent calling of calling the Relief Society Sisters on their birthdays. The grandchildren have many fond memories of sleep-overs at Grandma and Grandpa’s and then a trip to Bear Lake for a raspberry shake and a movie.

She is survived by four children, Gail Darrell (Janet), Rex Wallace (Vida) of Fielding, Lyle Elwen (Vickie) of Tremonton, Lynette (Dale) Price of Samaria, Idaho and son-in-law Doug Fuhriman of Tremonton. Also her sister Marlene (Arvid) Anderson of Kearns and sister-in-law LuDean Jacobson of Preston, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father-in-laws, Elwen and Vivien Godfrey, her daughter Ilene Bonnie Godfrey Fuhriman and grandson Lance Darrell Godfrey. Also her brothers, Frank Hess, Lewis Hess, Evan Hess and LeMoyne Hess and sisters Elizabeth Kuhn and Lorraine Wood Whiting.

Funeral services for Bonnie will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a viewing held on Friday evening September 26, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. and prior to the funeral from 9:30-10:30 a.m. All services will be held at the Fielding LDS Church (4375 W 15600 N Fielding, UT).
