Buddy Lee Knudsen passed away January 1, 2017, he was born November 19, 1938 in Malad, Idaho to John Hans Knudsen and Ila Landon Knudsen. Bud graduated from Bear River High school in 1958 where he met the love of his life, Gloria Cornwall. He married his high school sweetheart on June 20, 1958 in the Logan, LDS Temple. They had three children; Clayton Lee Knudsen, Susan Knudsen Brewer (Jimmie) and Gordon Cornwall Knudsen (Patti).
Bud spent his life in service to his church and community. He held various roles in the LDS church, he was a counselor in the Bishopric, a Bishop and a counselor in the Fielding Stake Presidency. He loved his community and served on the town counsel, mosquito abatement committee, BRAG Governing Board and served several terms as the Mayor of Portage. He spent 42 years working at Thiokol and enjoyed the lasting friendships that he made there.
Bud had an incredible work ethic and loved to be outside. You could often find Bud doing yardwork, he took pride in his yard and his mowing stripes. This was recognized when he was twice awarded the Green Arrow award from the Tremonton Leader for an outstanding yard. It wasn't uncommon to see a dog in the yard and a grandkid sitting on his lap while he was mowing.
Bud adored his family and loved spending time with them. He has eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren with two more on the way. Grandpa never missed a game, dance performance or special event. He was a die-hard BYU Cougar fan and loved sports; this love was passed down to everyone in his family!
Bud is preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry Dee Knudsen and son Clayton Lee Knudsen. He is survived by his wife Gloria, brother Dennis Gene Knudsen, sisters Andrea Williams (Spence) and Marsha Coy (Chris), Daughter Susan (Jimmie), son Gordon (Patti), grandchildren, great grandchildren, and dog Lucy.
