Burke Ferris Nielson

Burke Ferris Nielson (81) of Riverside, Utah passed away on January 4, 2025, surrounded by his family after a short battle with lung cancer. He was born March 29, 1943, to Ferris and Norma Thompson Nielson of Garland, Utah.

Growing up Burke enjoyed cars, hunting, horses and running around with friends. He graduated from Bear River High School in 1961 and was drafted into the Army in 1963 where he served in Germany for two years.

Burke married Gayle Cornwall on October 12, 1967, and was later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on June 4, 1970. Together they raised five children. Burke was a loving husband and father. He was devoted to Gayle's antiquing and gardening hobbies. He later supported her for 14 years with her illness. After Gayle's passing, dad enjoyed going for drives in his truck, visiting friends at JC's Diner, and around the valley. He made lifelong friends during his 46-year career at Thiokol.

Surviving are his four daughters and one son, Niki (Steve) Castagno, Patty (Dallas) Butler, Matt Nielson, Marcy (Russell) Payne, Jamie (BoDee) Udy; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and sister, Eileen Cornwall. He was preceded in death by wife, Gayle; parents, Ferris and Norma Nielson; sister, Janet Nielson; and in-laws, Red and Joyce Cornwall.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 11th at 11:00 A.M. with a viewing held prior from 9:00 A.M - 10:30 A.M. All services will be held at the Rudd Funeral Home- Tremonton located at 111 North 100 East Tremonton, Utah. Burial with military honors at the Riverside Cemetery will follow.
