Byron Hunsaker

December 16, 1924 — October 6, 2016

Byron Eliason Hunsaker, 91, our loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and dear friend, passed away peacefully in his home on October 6, 2016.  He was born December 16, 1924, in Honeyville, Utah, to Horace and Viola Eliason Hunsaker.  He lived in Honeyville all of his life. He married his sweetheart, Fern Eva Hirschi, February 14, 1952, in the Logan Temple and they enjoyed 64 wonderful years together.

Byron served his country during World War II from February of 1945 to November 1946.

Byron was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving faithfully in many callings including a mission to Western Canada, Bishop and Counselor, High Counselor, High Priest Group Leader and teacher.

He served his community in many ways including 8 years as mayor of Honeyville.

Byron's life-long profession was farming and ranching. He provided for his family by raising crops, cows and sheep.

Byron enjoyed spending time with his family, flying, training horses and dogs, welding, hunting, fishing, and reading.  His most prized possession was his wife and family; he loved them very very much.

He is survived by his loving wife, Fern, his sister-in-law, Irene Schuman Hunsaker, brother-in-law, Don Miller, children:  Chad (Sarah Carey) Hunsaker, Ledah (Jud) Redden, Debra (Norm) Weston, and Michael Hunsaker, 19 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren.  Byron is preceded in death by his brothers Desse and Bud, sister and brother-in-law Gwen and Austin Haws, Sister Joyce Miller, son Byron Lee, and Grandson Tyrell Weston.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Honeyville 2nd Ward Church. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday October 11, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 1st East Tremonton, Utah and Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Honeyville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the LDS Missionary Fund.
