Carl Neal Steed died peacefully at his home on April 2, 2013. He was born November 27, 1934 to Tressa Neal and Vern Steed. He grew up in Stone, Idaho. Carl married Mollie Hitt on June 1, 1953 (married 57 years). He rode his horse to grade school in Stone, Idaho and attended Bear River High School. Carl was the founder and member of the Curlew Valley Rodeo for fifty years. He was an exceptional horseman and roper. He spent many hours being a pickup-man over many Rodeo's throughout the Northwest. He loved the cowboy life and helping cowboys. Carl owned and operated his ranch/farm in Snowville, Utah and was a member of the Curlew Valley Cattle and Horse Association. He was knowledgeable of the surrounding areas cattle and knew everyones markings and brands. Carl would get up early every morning to open the Café© for Mollie. He would have the grill ready and the coffee made before the employees arrived.
Carl is survived by his wife Mollie, his two children, Rick (Judy) Steed of Stone, Idaho and Nancy (Earl) Warren of Burley, Idaho. Eight grandchildren, Lisa Steed, Kami (Travis) Doxey, Kurt Blaisdell, Bo (Haley) Steed, Jenny (Denver) Hawkes, Brett (Shannon) Bowcutt, BoDee (Jamie) Udy, Kacey (Alissa) Udy, eleven great-grandchildren, a sister Linda Kindblade and brother Lyle (Kathleen) Steed. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 sisters Eva Lue (Max) Laub, Nola (Mike) Thompson, Elaine (Eddie) Chadwick, Darlene (Andy) Funk and a brother Dee (DeLores) Steed.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 6, 2013, 11 a.m. at the Snowville LDS Chapel (25675 North 28500 West). There will be viewings Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 North 100 East - Tremonton) as well as Saturday morning from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the church, prior to services. The family would like to give thanks to Dr. McCallister, Dr. Jacobs, Dr. Miller, Mavis, Lance and Lonnie with Hospice and Dan "The Man" that sang "The Strawberry Roan". A big thank-you to all his friends who spent time visiting him.
