Carma Nielson Archibald passed away at age 89 on January 15, 2019. She was born to Earnel and Ellen Nielson in Garland, Utah on March 10, 1929. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Carma graduated from Bear River High school in 1947 where she was valedictorian. There she met and married her high school sweetheart, Clain “Jess” Archibald on August 6, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple.
Carma was a lifetime member and actively involved in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the gospel and found great joy serving in many different callings in the church. Jess and Carma served as missionaries together in Vancouver, Canada from 1993 to 1994. She loved to read, quilt, crochet and sew, making many cherished outfits for her children and grandchildren. She shared her talents with many friends and neighbors as well. She worked for First Security Bank in Tremonton for 17 years where she retired in 1991.
Carma is survived by her companion of 70 years, Clain “Jess” Archibald, their 5 children, Mike (LeRae) Archibald, Alan (Pam) Archibald, Deaun Marsh, Jesse (Franci) Archibald, Denise (Curtis) Stimpson. Jess and Carma are blessed with 21 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren with more posterity yet to come! Carma was reunited with her father and mother, Earnel and Ellen Nielson, brothers Arlo, Ferris, and LaDell and son-in-law Thayne.
Services will be held in the Garland Tabernacle, 140 West Factory Street, Garland, Utah, on January 26, 2019 at 12pm. Her viewing will be held on Friday, January 25 from 6-8 pm at the Garland Tabernacle and from 10:00-11:30 am at the Tabernacle prior to the funeral services.
Interment, Garland City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank their dear friends and neighbors who have served our parents with such endless love. The wonderful group at Rocky Mountain Hospice, especially Heidi and Karl who were by mom’s side till the very end. Thanks to the wonderful staff at “Our House” for their care and love for mom during her stay with them. We appreciate Dr. Chad Merrill for all the years of care and concern as a family friend and doctor. Thank you all for helping us through this time in our life.
