Carol “Annie” Watson, 59, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024, at Maple Springs in Brigham City, Utah.
Annie was born January 23, 1965, in Tremonton, Utah to Lyle & Verlene (Udy) Watson. Annie was raised in Tremonton, Utah. Annie was athletically gifted from a very young age. She participated in many sports including; softball, volleyball, basketball, and track and field. She received a scholarship to attend Snow College where she was named All American in softball 1984-85. They traveled to Hawaii and New Zealand to participate in softball tournaments representing Snow College. She was the first female athlete to be inducted to the Athletic Hall of Fame at Snow College. After graduation she attended Utah State and played softball for two years.
Annie then worked at Morton-Thiokol as well as assistant coaching alongside Farrell Williams in Basketball at Bear River High School 1988-89. The girls took state that year! She then transitioned to Bryant Intermediate in Salt Lake City teaching special needs and assistant coaching of basketball. Her summers were filled with participating in a traveling coed softball team. She then took a supervisor position at UPS in Salt Lake City where she worked until an auto accident in 2000 left her permanently disabled.
Annie was never one to give up, her sheer determination was able to supersede doctors expectations in her recovery efforts from the accident. She learned new ways to do her daily routines and had many good years at home after the accident until hip replacement surgery in 2018. She then resided at Maple Springs in Brigham City where she made some pretty amazing friends and had incredible caregivers. A huge thank you to Chelsea Eddy and Kaelyn Robbins for being her constant saving grace while she was there.
Annie lived for five things; her family, especially her nephews, Utah Jazz, Seattle Seahawks, Peanut Butter M&M’s and last but not least her Starbucks Latte’s. We knew to never show up empty handed on our visits.
What a sweet reunion it is for her, dad, and Patti. We will miss you every day.
Annie is survived by her loving mother, sister Vicki (Duane) Godfrey. Her two nephews, who meant the world to her, Hayden (Kenzie) Williams and Parker (Valerie) Williams, and great nephew Finn Lyle Williams.
