Carol Oman Carter

March 18, 1942 — November 28, 2024

Carol O. Carter, a beloved member of her family and community, passed away on November 28, 2024 in Ogden, Utah. Born on March 18, 1942, to Uarda Taylor Oman and Karl Oman, Carol spent her childhood in Yost before moving to various places including Tremonton, West Yellowstone, Montana, Yuma, Arizona, and most recently, Ogden, Utah.

Carol married John M. Selman, and together they were blessed with wonderful children. They later divorced. Later in life, she married Sherman Carter.

She pursued her passion for healthcare by earning a degree in nursing from Weber State University. Following her education, Carol dedicated herself to the nursing profession, serving at Bear River Valley Hospital. Later, she embarked on an entrepreneurial journey by owning and operating the Pioneer Motel in West Yellowstone, Montana, until her retirement in 2001.

An avid bowler and cribbage player, Carol also cherished traveling and spending quality time with friends and family. Her vibrant spirit drew her into community life, becoming a member of the Eagles, Elks, and Moose Lodges, and she volunteered with various services and organizations over the years.

Carol is survived by her children, Jana (Todd) Cooper and Jared Selman; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Nolin (Connie) Oman and Blaine (LuAnn) Oman; and one sister, Ila Jane (Bob) Belt.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sherman Carter; and three children: Karla Rae Selman, J. Mitchel Selman, and Jason Selman; as well as a sister and brother-in-law, Kaylene Oman (Larry) Ward.

A memorial service to honor Carol's life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Rudd Funeral Home- Tremonton (111 N. 100 E.- Tremonton) at Noon. A visitation will take place prior to the service from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed and can be found below. Carol will be laid to rest in the Deweyville Cemetery.

Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, as she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to family and community.
