Carol Ann Scheppard, 77, passed away on October 16, 2024, at Our House Assisted Living, after over 5 ½ years suffering from dementia. She was born on May 22, 1947, in Canandaigua, New York to Maurice Jesse Comings and Virginia Millard Comings.
She married Robert George Scheppard on August 12, 1978, in Mexico, New York.
Throughout her life Carol lived in Manchester, New York; Mexico, New York; and Thatcher, Utah. She attended Red Jacket Central School in Manchester, New York and received her Regents Scientific High School diploma with honors as well as the Valedictorian June 27, 1965. She attended State University of New York College at Geneso, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education Cum Laude Provisional Certificate in English grades 7-12th in 1970.
Carol worked in Mexico Academy and Central School starting September 1, 1970, teaching Regents English, Speech and Theater. She received Tenure September 1, 1973. She also taught at Mexico Middle School 8th grade English and 5th and 6th grade Remedial Writing at Mexico Middle School. She retired after teaching 32 years in 2003.
She loved to read and referred to her books as her friends. She adopted her daughter Brittany Ann Scheppard on November 20, 1991. Brittany was born on December 9, 1988. SHE WAS AN EXTREMELY ACTIVE CHILD!
Carol was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on January 6, 1985, at the Pulaski, New York branch. Carol’s first calling was in Nursery, then the Sunbeams, Primary President, Seminary instructor, and finally teaching Gospel Doctrine at the Pulaski, New York Ward. She was sealed to her husband Robert in the Washington DC Temple in April 1986. Carol and her husband Robert and daughter Brittany moved in February 2004 to Thatcher, Utah to the Marble Hills development. She attended the Thatcher Penrose 1st Ward where she taught primary, Sunday School, and eventually worked in the library. She was also a very dedicated visiting teacher.
Carol is survived by her husband Robert G. Scheppard; daughter Brittany Ann Garr; granddaughter Megan Marie Vincent; several cousins and one Aunt Bernice in North Carolina.
She is preceded in death by her mother Virginia Millard Comings, who passed away in Canandaigua, New York and her father Maurice Jesse Comings who passed away in Brigham City, Utah.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 11 A.M. with a viewing held prior from 9:30-10:30 A.M. All services will be held at the Thatcher Penrose 1st Ward Church (11475 W 10400 N, Thatcher, UT 84337). Interment will take place in the Valley View Cemetery.
