Howell, UT- Carol Allen Sorensen 86, passed away in Howell on November 11, 2014. She was born on January 1, 1928 in Bothwell, UT to Roland Robert & Amy Ruth Anderson Allen.
Carol was raised in Bothwell and attended McKinley Grade School until 8th grade. She then attended and graduated from Bear River High School. She married Ray Delmont Sorensen on July 8, 1947 in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. They made their home in Howell where Carol was a devoted Wife, Mother, Hired farm hand and the Egg Lady.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a Primary Teacher, Counselor in the Primary, Organist, Chorister, Stake Primary Blazer Scout Leader, Relief Society President and Counselor, MIA President and Counselor, Junior Sunday School Leader and Primary Organist until 2010. She was so sad when she was released due to her health. She was always helping with banquets and bazaars for the Howell Ward. She served on the Box Elder County Fair Board as the Home Arts Department Director and the Box Elder County Nursing Home Board for several years. Ray and Carol were honored to be the Grand Marshall of the Box Elder County Fair Parade in August of 2004. She enjoyed crocheting the many baby Afghans for the new arrivals to the family.
Carol is survived by her Husband Ray of 67 years; Children: Barry & Sharon Sorensen of Providence, UT, John (Son-in-law) Carrie Nelson of Yakima, WA, Bart & Cindy Sorensen of Howell, UT, Jan & Tom Galovich of Spanish Fork, UT, Julie & Kevin McKay of Jerome, ID, Mark & Bonnie Sorensen of Howell, UT and Jeff & Ryan (Pete) Sorensen of Howell, UT; 25 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren and Siblings: Clair Allen and Clyda Lindsay.
She was preceded in death by her Parents: Roland & Amy Allen; Brothers: Richard, Ted & Darwin Allen; Sisters: Janiel Christensen & Velva Lee Rose; Daughter: Kristen Nelson; Grandsons: Bryce & Colby Sorensen; Granddaughters: Mai Kim, Sarah Kristen & Kara Ann Nelson and Great Grandson Dalys Sorensen.
Funeral services for Carol will be held on Saturday November 15, 2014 at 12:00 Noon at the Howell LDS Chapel (16035 N. 17400 W. Howell, UT). There will be a viewing held on Friday evening November 14, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E. Tremonton, UT) and on Saturday prior to the funeral from 10:30- 11:30 a.m. Interment in the Howell Cemetery.
