Carol Anderson Spackman left us on April 18, 2024. Her life on earth started December 10, 1933. She was born in the family home in north Garland, the youngest of seven children. She had to work and play hard to keep up with the older kids, but they took really good care of her. She enjoyed ice skating and swimming in the canal that was next to their home. She attended Garland Elementary and Bear River High School, graduating in 1952. She then attended USU for one year and Weber State for two years, where she was doing an experimental RN program through Columbia University.
After graduation, she worked at Dee Hospital in Ogden and LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. Carol then went back to USU to complete her teaching degree in 1957. While at USU, she met and married John Delbert Spackman in 1956. They lived in Honeyville. After graduation, she taught second grade at Century Elementary in Brigham City. Then, Holly arrived in 1958 and Delbert in 1962. They kept her very busy. In 1964, the family moved to Royal Slope, Washington. Carol went back to teaching then Ken arrived in 1969. In 1973, the family moved to Park Valley where she taught school again. She taught 18 more years before retiring in 1996.
As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held many positions. She enjoyed dipping chocolates and making English toffee, growing beautiful flowers, and just caring for her family.
Carol is survived by one brother, Don Anderson of Garland; three kids, Holly (Jay) Carter of Park Valley, Delbert (Sharon) Spackman of Park Valley, and Ken (Sonya) Spackman of Park Valley; numerous grand and great-grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, John Delbert Spackman.
