Charmaine Baker

Our sister, Charmaine Baker, passed away in Logan, Utah, on May 31,2024 in the presence of her immediate family. Charmaine Baker was born 7-16-1950 in Salina, Utah, to Dale and Viola Potter Baker. Charmaine was the first child of four, followed by: McKay Junior Baker, Mary Lee (Baker) Shewell, and Kelly Rae Baker. Charmaine was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Kelly.

Charmaine spent most of her youth in Sandy, Utah. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1968. Charmaine attended Weber State University, Ogden, Utah, graduating with a BA in Nursing. She later graduated as a Registered Nurse with an emphasis in infant care. Charmaine worked in Logan, Utah, at IHC for many years. She worked in the NICU caring for newborn children. 

Charmaine was called to the mission field in 1983 and was proud to serve in Guatemala. She loved the people she met and enjoyed the culture. She learned to speak and write in Spanish.

Charmaine lived her life as fully as she could. Her diagnosis of MS in her mid-twenties meant that there were things she would not be able to do. She had a sweetheart, whom she lost to a traffic accident. She loved the Church, her family (especially Kelly) and her friends. She enjoyed entertaining her nieces and nephews. Charmaine was like her dad in that she had the gift of gab. Her charming, sometimes mischievous, smile was infectious. We will miss her greatly, think of her often and look forward being with her again.

 A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 11:30 A.M. at the Brookwood Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (11970 S 1940 W, Riverton, UT 84065). Interment will take place at the Redwood Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
