Clain “Jess” Archibald passed from this life on October 22, 2023 at the age of 95. He was born at home on December 11, 1927, in Plymouth, Utah to Jesse & Mary Irene Hess Archibald. He graduated from Bear River High School in 1946. It was there he met and married his high school sweetheart, Carma Nielson. They were married on August 6, 1948, in the Logan Utah Temple.
Jess worked at many places throughout his life, including U & I Sugar Co., Bear River Farm Supply, Clearfield Job Corp., and Thiokol Corporation, where he retired in 1991.
Some of his favorite things to do were coaching women’s softball, refereeing high school and college basketball and watching and cheering for the Utah Jazz. In his earlier years, he served as a volunteer with the Garland Fire Department. Jess and Carma loved to travel with family and friends. He found great joy in the beauty of the flowers he grew in his yard and working in his garden.
Jess was a faithful servant of the Lord. He helped instill that faith in his family. He was a lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various callings including Bishop, High Council, Stake Presidency and as a missionary with his wife in the Canada Vancouver Mission from 1993-1994. His last calling was working in the ward library which brought him in contact with so many people he loved and enjoyed visiting with regularly. Jess and Carma also loved the time they were able to serve as ordinance workers in the Logan Utah Temple. They have many cherished friendships from their service.
Above all, Jess enjoyed loving and serving people.
Jess is survived by his children, Mike (LeRae) Archibald, Alan (Pam) Archibald, Deaun Marsh, Jesse (Franci) Archibald, Denise (Curtis) Stimpson, 21 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren (and one on the way), and many nieces and nephews.
Jess was reunited with his wife Carma, father and mother Jesse & Mary Irene Archibald, son-in-law Thayne Marsh, sisters, NaDean Weidman and Aileen Williams.
