Cleo Cervantez, 93, passed away on April 29, 2019 at Maple Springs Nursing Home, in Brigham City, UT. She was a longtime resident of Tremonton, UT. Cleo was born on September 25, 1925 in Nez City, Kansas. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bernabe Cervantez and their son Luis Cervantez.
After her children were out of school, Cleo returned to school and earned her GED and completed some college units from USU and BYU. She had many different occupations throughout her life, working with Immigrant Head Start, as a nutrition aide for Box Elder County, and with the Board of Education. Cleo taught English as a Second Language classes, nutrition classes, and gave freely to her community over the past 60+ years. She was a founding member of the St. Anna Mission in Tremonton, UT, and was also the 2004 Ryttings Award Recipient.
Cleo is survived by her sister, Rufina Cervantez, sons Ramiro Cervantez (Sue), Louis Cervantez (Diane), Rueben Cervantez, (Keri), daughter Connie Tovey, 14 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren and many other family members.
The family would like to thank Maple Springs Nursing Home and Signature Hospice Care for all of their help, and also thank the many friends and family who visited mom over the years.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Santa Ana Catholic Church (760 W 600 N Tremonton, UT) at 11:00 a.m. There will be a rosary held at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E. Tremonton, UT) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2019 with a viewing following the rosary from 6-8 p.m.
