Cleo Moon Macfarlane, 88, died July 17, 2013. She was born January 25, 1925 to Ira R. and Merle Jones Moon in Henderson Creek, Idaho.
She married Jay U. Macfarlane, May 9, 1943 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Three months later Jay left to serve in the Army during WWII. Jay and Cleo were sealed for time and all eternity, April 22, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. Jay and Cleo recently celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary. They are wonderful examples of love and devotion.
She was raised in Henderson Creek, Idaho and attended grade school in a one room school house there and later graduated from Malad High School. While Jay was overseas she worked at the Naval Supply Depot in Ogden and Sweets Candy Co. Upon Jays return she worked at Jay's Grocery, the family business, and spent the rest of her life in Riverside, where she raised her family and was a loved member of the community.
Cleo was a member of the Belmont 2nd Ward. She served in many different capacities in the church including mutual, primary, Relief Society and served as the ward librarian.
She loved family gatherings and holding a family dinner every chance she could. She found love and joy with her family and will be sorely missed by them. She was a wonderful mother and an amazing grandmother and great-grandmother. She left a legacy of unconditional love.
Cleo enjoyed the bounties of nature, especially flowers. She was a lover of music and had an angelic singing voice. She sang in a trio for many years and there were many that enjoyed her special talent. One highlight of her life was singing at the Salt Lake Tabernacle with a Relief Society Choir called "The Singing Mothers".
She was talented in quilting and crocheting and created beautiful works of art for many to enjoy. She blessed her family members and many others with these talents. She was an exemplary cook and passed this trait on to her daughter and granddaughters. Her "special touch" on her recipes will be missed.
The family would like to sincerely thank AFI Hospice, especially Gabby and Cathy. We would like to also thank the staff at Our House Assisted Living for the loving care Cleo received from every member of the staff, we are forever grateful.
She is survived by her husband, Jay and their children, Ronald (Jane) Macfarlane, Brent (MarJean) Macfarlane, Carol Stephens; Brother, Frank Moon; 12 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
