Clyde A. Sorensen, 83, passed away December 18, 2009 surrounded by family members in Tremonton, Utah. Clyde was born September 28, 1926 in East Garland to loving parents, Jon Henry and Mary Letitia Allen Sorensen. He told his family that he married the best looking gal in the valley, VaLoise Petersen September 22, 1948, in the Logan LDS temple. Clyde was educated at Bear River High School, and graduated from there in 1944. While in High School he loved playing sports. He played basketball, football and ran track. During high school he was very involved in agriculture classes. As a senior he served as the FFA president and later received his State Farmer Degree. Clyde was very proud of his military service and talked about it often. Following his graduation from High School he was drafted into the Army and served in WWII. During his military service he went through basic training as infantryman. In the war he was a Squad Leader, Corporal and Staff Sergeant. He also received amphibious training and training to be a paratrooper. In his travels he spent 55 days on the Ocean and spent a good portion of his time in Japan. He owned and operated a very successful dairy next to his residence in East Garland. To Clyde the farm was not only a way to make a living it was there that he taught his children the value of hard work. He was proud of his career and took great pride in his dairy. Clyde was committed to living the gospel of Jesus Christ in all aspects of his life. He served in the church in many different positions. He was a Bishop when he was 40 and then again at 65 years of age. He served in a Stake Presidency, High Council, High Priest Group Leader, Sunday School Teacher, and a very dedicated Home Teacher. When he retired from farming he and his sweetheart served two missions in the Church. One mission was in the Church Unemployment office and the other was proselyting in the Kenya Nairobi Mission. Clyde and VaLoise also spent many years working in the Churches Genealogical Library. He said one of his greatest joys while he served in the church was to interview his grand children while he was their Bishop. Clyde is Survived by his wife VaLoise Petersen Sorensen, children Marlene Sorensen (Daughter in Law), Janet (Doug) Misrasi, Diane (Ron) Crump, Craig (LaDawn) Sorensen, Seth (Jan) Sorensen, Bryce (Kathyrn) Sorensen, Nolan (Teri) Sorensen, Kenny John, siblings, Renee Allen (Sister in Law), Betty Jean Petersen, Patricia Fryer, 40 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, Jon Henry Sorensen, Letitia Allen Sorensen, brother, Allen Sorensen, son, Lynn Clyde Sorensen, grand-daughter Nikki Grove, and great-grandson Wyatt Sorensen. The family would like to thank Dr. Schow, and all the other doctors and nurses at the Bear River Valley Hospital and Care facility for their love and care they gave our dad. He was very appreciative of your hard work and compassionate service. There will be a viewing Monday the 21st of December from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday the 22nd of December at 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. followed by a the funeral at 1:00 p.m. All services will be held at the Fielding Stake Center located at 15600 N 4400 W Fielding, Utah.
