Dale Hansen

Biography

Dale (Tub) Hansen passed away at his home in Lewiston with his loving wife by his side Sunday, June 1. He was born on December 4, 1926 to Joseph Hansen and Daisy C. Hansen in Elwood, Utah. On June 2, 1946, he married Sylvia Thompson in the Logan LDS Temple. Together they were blessed with seven children.

Dale was a loving and caring son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Dale suffered a fall hauling hay in August 2009. Since his accident, he has learned unlimited patience.

A veteran of World War II, Dale returned home to grow sugar beets. In 1965 he bought a dairy farm in Lewiston. Eventually he sold his milk cows to pursue his love for horse racing. Dale raced horses in Montana 4 years and then went to Canada where he continued racing for 15 more years. In 1995, he went to Arizona and raced until his accident in 2009. Dale was a successful owner and trainer of Thoroughbred race horses.

Dale is survived by his wife Sylvia and his children Alan (Julie), Marilyn (Jed) Murray, Nancy Munk, Roger (Shirley), Annette (Greg) Olsen. Also, 23 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters Joyce (Howard) Stokes, Bonnie (Ross) Rudd, and a brother Darwin Hansen.

He is preceded in death by his father Joseph Hansen, mother Daisy Hansen, son Ronnie, daughter Gwen Lynn, Son in-law Larry Munk, grandson Colby Munk, grandson Chad Olsen, and brother Vern Hansen.

The family would like to express thanks to the staff of CNS Hospice for taking such good care of Dale. Special thanks to his nurse Carol and to Lacy, Tammy, Jared and to all the caring aids. Thank you so much to our sweet mom for all the love and care of our dad.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday June 7, 2014 in the LDS Chapel on 16 South Main Street, Lewiston, Utah. A viewing will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the Clarkston City Cemetery with Military Honors.
