Dale James Archibald (95) passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019 in Tremonton, Utah. Jimmy was born on December 8, 1923 in Ogden, Utah to Eleck Vivian and Emma Sophia Archibald. In 1942 he graduated from Bear River High School and then married his sweetheart, Alta Bishop, in the Logan Temple on January 19, 1944. After 59 years of marriage, Alta passed away on January 29, 2003.
Jimmy was the manager and operator of Jay Service Station until 1967 when he partnered with Dave, his son, to run Jim & Dave’s. He then retired in 1996.
He enjoyed snow skiing and golfing. One of his greatest golfing accomplishments was getting a hole-in-one. He loved doing yard work side by side with his wife, Alta, and continued to keep the yard beautiful even after her passing. Above all else he loved being with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his group of friends (The Study Group).
Jimmy was a member of the Tremonton 6th Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church callings. He touched many lives in the community and was loved by all.
He is survived by his children, Diane DeJarnatt, David James (Jessie) of Tremonton, Kathy Lovoi of Bountiful, 14 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Alta, and his great-granddaughter, Samantha.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Noon at the Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E. Tremonton) with a viewing held prior from 10-11:30 a.m.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Our House. Words cannot express the gratitude and appreciation the family feels toward those who by their kindness and generous assistance have helped during Jimmy’s illness and death. May God’s blessing rest with each of you.
