Darrell Kunzler

July 7, 1935 — October 23, 2015

Darrell Clark Kunzler, 80, passed away peacefully on Friday Oct 23, 2015 at his home in Benson, UT.  Surrounded by his devoted family, he slipped quietly away on a beautiful fall afternoon.   He was born in Willard Utah, to John Jacob and Maria Frieda Meier Kunzler.  He was the youngest son of 8 children.  He spent his childhood in Park Valley, Utah on the homestead ranch.  He attended elementary & jr high in Park Valley and graduated from Box Elder High School.

After serving for 2 1/2 years in the Swiss-Austria mission, he returned home and attended Utah State University where he met and married the love of his life, Sharon Ricks.  They wed on September 14, 1962 in the Logan LDS Temple.  He graduated with a B.S. Degree from the College of Engineering at Utah State University.

Darrell loved being a rancher.  He was active in the cattle industry serving as the president of the Logan Canyon Cattle Association, Cache County Cattlemen’s Association, and as the Area 1 Director.  He was appointed by the governor to serve on the Big Game Board as the Cattlemen’s representative and appointed to the State Brand Board.  In 2009 he was honored to receive the Rancher's Legacy Award for lifelong devotion to the cattle industry.

His love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ brought various callings into his life.  He especially enjoyed serving as a High Councilman in the Utah State YSA Stake and he taught Gospel Doctrine in his home ward for over 20 years.  He and Sharon served in the Salt Lake City Temple Square mission in recent years.  Above all else, he lived his life in service of those he loved which included family, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.  His large stature was surpassed only by the size of his heart.
