Thatcher- Darrell James Frederick Maguire, 71, passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 12, 2014 of natural causes. He was born March 29, 1943 in Birmingham, England to Gwendolyn Farmer & Edward Maguire.
Darrell lived in many places across the world, including: Birmingham, England; Pontiac, MI; Vero Beach, FL; Chula Vista, CA; New Port, RI; Norfolk, VA; and most recently Tremonton and Thatcher, UT. He joined the Navy, and was a Sonar man E7 Chief Petty Officer when he retired after 20 years of service in 1983.
Darrell married Pauline Laws in August of 1968 in Elko, NV and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1972. Together they had 4 children and raised a beautiful family. He liked HAM radio, was a computer “nut”, liked guns, hunted and was full of superfluous knowledge. He was jovial, funny, and loved his family, camping and traveling. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served in many callings and really knew his scriptures. He worked at ATK (Thiokol) in the Meteorology Lab as a Technician and retired in 2007 after 24 years.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline; 3 children: Darrell James “Jamie” Maguire; Darlene Maguire; Beverly (Chad) Richins; 2 granddaughters; 3 sisters; Maureen, Kathleen, Colleen; 1 brother; Brian. Mother-in-law, Colleen Laws; Sister-in-law, Beverly (Lynn) Jenkins, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 son; John Maguire; father-law, John Laws, grandparents and many aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank all those who have helped in any way.
Services for Darrell will be held Friday, April 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E. – Tremonton). Viewings will be Thursday evening from 6-8 pm and Friday from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. prior to the funeral, both viewings will be at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Valley View Cemetery.
