Biography

David Arthur Scott passed away on October 27th surrounded by the love of his family in the McKay Dee Hospital. David was born on the family farm to Walter and Hazel Scott on September 15, 1934.

David married his sweetheart, Ruby Marble, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple on May 28th, 1952. Though only 17, their bond defied the words of their song They Tried To Tell Us We're "Too Young" and held strong though 61 years of marriage, 6 Children, 21 Grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 4 on the way. They also helped raise 3 teenage brothers of Dave's, welcomed in 13 children through the Indian placement program and many others through foster care, which is when Billy Brandon became part of the family.

Through the years he supported his family by working at the Sugar Factory and Continental Telephone company doing construction work. He retired in 1991 though work continued long beyond that. Purchasing rental homes and remodeling them became his new past time and source of income. He even recruited a few of his children as additional helping hands.

He had a dedicated work ethic. In fact, days without work were few and far between. He always told his children to "work hard and be honest and you will be successful."

Though some would agree he had a "headstrong" personality that was far outweighed by his very generous heart and was always helping others. David could often be found donating his carpentry skills by repairing a roof or remodeling a home for friends or family.

Dave and Ruby enjoyed spending the winters in Quartzsite, Arizona with many lifelong friends.

Surviving are his wife Ruby; children Dave (Cheryl) Scott; Teresa (Gary) Hunsaker; Danny(Nancy) Scott; Cindy (Kim) Parry; Annette (Tom) Hansen; Daren (Susie) Scott; Billy (Trisha) Brandon; 21 grandchildren, 28 great grand children and 8 siblings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 9 siblings, and grandsons Skip Scott, Joshua Scott and Cory Parry.

Funeral services for Dave will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday October 31, 2013 at the Fielding Stake Center (4375 W 15600 N). There will be a viewing held on Wednesday October 30, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at the Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E) and at the church previous to the funeral from 9:30- 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Fielding Cemetery.
