Dean Russell Kunzler, beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend passed away on July 18, 2022, in Tremonton, Utah. He was the fourth of six children born to Chester Russell and Bernice Larsen Kunzler on June 16, 1961.
Dean was raised on the Kunzler Ranch in Park Valley, Utah where he learned the value of hard work, honesty, and service. After the tragic death of his dad, at the young age of 20, Dean worked diligently with his mom and siblings to enhance and develop the ranch. The ranch was his home, his life, and his sanctuary, where he learned to love and care for the land. Dean had the opportunity to attend Park Valley School and graduated from Bear River High School.
He married Jana Stokes and was blessed with a daughter, Kristan, after which they went their separate ways. Dean married his soul mate, Jan Jensen, on July 11, 1992. Their union was blessed with Nicole, Cody Dean, and Shelby. Together, Dean and Jan raised their four children with love.
As a young man, Dean developed his carpentry, craftsmanship, and wood working skills. Dean was detail oriented and was well known as a perfectionist. His skills and knowledge led him to a successful career at Thiokol in the NDT organization for 35 years. Throughout his career he developed many lifelong friendships.
Dad had an immense love for the outdoors. He enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, hunting, woodworking, and serving others. He loved spending time with his family and friends who enjoyed his great sense of humor and quick wit.
One of Dad’s greatest joys was being a grandpa to his three Grandsons Cameron, Grayson, and Marston. He was often found “puttering” in the back yard with them. He loved to be outside with them, especially fishing and going on side-by-side rides. Dad always ensured the boys had a treat (or two) before they left Grandpa & Grandmas.
Dad was genuine with a heart full of unconditional love and accepting of everyone. He always had a listening ear. Dad was extremely proud of his heritage, from both his Father and Mother.
Dean is survived by his beloved wife Jan; children, Kristan (Greg) Whinham, Nicole (Tyson) Shaw, Cody Dean Kunzler, and Shelby Kunzler; Three grandchildren, Cameron, Grayson and Marston; Siblings, Susan (Brian) Lish, Alan Kunzler, Kay (Valynn) Kunzler, Carol (Wes) Estep, Tony (Kelly) Kunzler, Brad (Lisa) Ralphs; Mother In-Law, Gail (Lowell) Archibald; In-laws, Burke (Neleen) Jensen, Daryl (Darleen) Jensen, Tricia (Jason) Hurd, Tammy (David) Neylan, Nolan Jensen and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
