Dean R Potter

Dean R Potter, 88, of Garland, Utah, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on July 17, 2023. 

The youngest of eight children, Dean was born on December 1, 1934, to Robert John and Lottie Rucker Potter in Collinston, UT.  He graduated as Senior Class President from Bear River High School in Garland, UT.

Dean was sealed for time and eternity to the love of his life, Diane Butler, in the Logan Temple on December 27, 1955.  Together they brought four children into this world.  Blaine (LeaAnn) Potter, Roger (Julie) Potter, Mark (Tracie) Potter and Joyce (Ronnie) Hansen.

Dean held many titles in his life.  He was a member of the National Guard as well as the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Posse.  He served as Mayor of Garland City.  He was a lifelong farmer in the Bear River Valley.  He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fulfilled his church callings faithfully.  He served as the High Priest Quorum Leader and Stake Sunday School Group Leader, just to name a few.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Carl Potter, Margaret Perry, Billy Potter, Naoma Atkinson, Leona Austin, Ron Potter, and one great grandson, Dustin Potter.

He is survived by his wife, 4 children, 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and sister Betty Koller.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023  at 11 A.M. at the Garland LDS Church (175 S Main, Garland, UT).  Viewings will be held on Monday, July 24, 2023 from 6-8 P.M. at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N 100 E, Tremonton, UT) and prior to the service at the church from 9 – 10:30 A.M.  Interment will be at the Deweyville Cemetery.  The service will be livestreamed and may be accessed below.

Dean’s love was felt by many.  His life was a blessing and his memory a treasure.
