Dee Luke Ramsdell
Bear River City - Dee Luke Ramsdell, (Frog), 85, wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away at his home, warm in his bed, next to his gal, surrounded by his family, Friday, October 11, 2013 in Bear River City from cancer.
He was born September 25, 1928 in Park City, Utah, a son of Dewey Algeroy Ramsdell and Florence Gertrude Anderson. In the fall of 1934, the family moved to Bear River City where he was a life-long resident. He graduated from Box Elder High School and attended art classes at Utah State. He had two half-brothers, three sisters, and three brothers; Jack Dewey Ramsdell, Robert Lloyd Ramsdell, Sally (Munns) Ramsdell, Kathleen Ramsdell, Karen (Loo) Ramsdell, Ted LeRoy Ramsdell, Richard (Dick) Anderson Ramsdell, and Michael A Ramsdell.
He served his country in the Korean War from 1951-1953 and was given an honorable discharge in 1956. He met Dorothy (Dixie) Wilson in 1949 and they were married on March 26, 1954 in Tremonton, Utah. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple on June 24, 2006. They lived and raised their family in Bear River City where they had 4 children; Scott Dee Ramsdell, Susan (Steve) Chadaz, Julie Ramsdell, and Joel Luke (Angie Hess) Ramsdell. They were blessed with 15 Grandchildren and 28 Great Grandchildren. Dee made his living as an insulation contractor and served the Bear River Valley for almost 50 years.
Dee was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was an active member of the Bear River 2nd Ward. He served as the Scout Master for many years and loved working with kids.
Dee had many hobbies. He loved to fish and was a master of fishing the Grey's River in Wyoming. When not fishing he loved to hunt with his dad, brothers and sons where many memories were made around the campfire. He was an avid sports enthusiast and loved to watch his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play ball. He was also an artist and painted many scenes from his hunting and fishing trips. He has won several awards and some of his paintings are still on display throughout the valley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Kathleen, his son Scott, and his two half-brothers Jack and Robert.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 16, at the Bear River City LDS Church, 5870 N. 4700 W. at 12:00 Noon. There will be a viewing previous to the funeral service from 10:30- 11:30 a.m. Friends and family may call from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday night, October 15th at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home in Tremonton (111 N. 100 E.) . Burial will be in the Bear River City Cemetery.
