Dena Hansen

March 18, 1921 — February 1, 2012

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully February 1, 2012 in Bear River City, Utah. Dena was born March 18, 1921 to John Edward Anderson and Gerda Johanna Larson Anderson in Richmond, Utah. She married Theone Harvey Hansen November 23, 1943 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived all of their life in Bear River City, Utah. Dena was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served many years in the Primary as a teacher and as a member of the Primary Stake Presidency; eight years as a counselor and five years as President. She was also a faithful visiting teacher and a member of the ward choir. She and Theone were workers in the Ogden LDS Temple for four and a half years. Dena was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother. She was always able to make a little go a long way; by gardening, canning and sewing many of the clothes her family wore. She was also the family barber. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, crocheting and quilting. She loved poetry and was very artistic. Dena had a great love of family, and was very proud of all of them. She enjoyed spending time with them. Her door was always open and a meal only minutes away. We will miss her smile and quick wit. Dena was preceded in death by her parents and six of her nine siblings. She is survived by her husband Theone Hansen and six children. Marlene Martini, Bountiful, UT; Stanley (Jean) Hansen, Driggs, ID; Robert (Marilyn) Hansen, Victor, ID; Jeffrey (Diane) Hansen, Bear River City, UT; Craig (Pam) Hansen, Victor, ID and LaRon (Linda) Hansen, Driggs, ID. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, one brother Ray Anderson, Farr West, UT, and one sister Enid Long, Tremonton, Utah. Special thanks to all those at CNS Hospice and Home Health for all the love, help and support they have provided to Dena and Theone at this time. They are deeply appreciated. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 6, 2012 at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held Sunday, February 5, 2012 from 6-8 pm and prior to the funeral from 9-10:30 AM. All services will be held at the Bear River LDS Chapel (5870 N. 4700 W.).
