Denton Clane John, age 85, passed away on August 11, 2024, at his home in Portage, UT. He was born to Noah James and Esther Elmeda Hall John on February 21,1939 in Tremonton, UT. He was the youngest and last surviving of 13 children. He was raised in Portage, UT.
After graduating Bear River High School, he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Gulf States Mission. After returning from his mission, he attended Utah State University. During this time, he married the love of his life, Linda Jeppesen. They were sealed in the Logan, UT temple on June 5, 1963. Shortly after this, he was accepted to Washington University in St. Louis, MO. After multiple years of schooling, he received his degree as a Doctor of Dental Surgery. He then moved to and practiced dentistry in Malad, ID.
The next step in his education placed him at the University of Utah where he became a resident anesthesiologist. After this he moved his family to Pleasanton, CA and he practiced dentistry in Castro Valley, CA until 1988.
In 1988 he and his family returned to his childhood home of Portage, UT where he had acquired farm and ranch land. After he returned to Portage, he spent time in the pursuit of other professional endeavors including Administrator of the Onedia Co. Hospital, business manager of a multi office dental practice, and a business coach for Franklin Covey. During this time, he also pursued his love for the land and livestock on his farm and ranch. After retiring from his business adventures, he spent the remainder of his days on his farm and ranch.
Denton is survived by his sons Darin, Todd, Chris (Carrie), and Robert with 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Linda, parents, 12 siblings, and 2 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 11 A.M. at the Portage LDS Church (8910 W 25800 N St, Portage, Utah). Viewings will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 5-7 P.M. at Rudd Funeral Home- Tremonton (111 N 100 E- Tremonton, Utah) and prior to the service at the church from 9:30-10:30 A.M. Interment will take place at the Portage Cemetery.
