Donna Lee Ziegler Isaacson was born on January 14th, 1937 to Herbert W Ziegler and Winifred Hancey. As she told her stories she referred to herself as a little boy, growing up in Preston Idaho. (Oneida)
Grandma Hawaii went back into the loving arms of her husband and Heavenly Father on June 2, 2023. She has been surrounded, supported, and cared for by her loving family since the passing of her husband.
A cherished and devoted mother, wife, daughter, grandmother, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend who loved and was loved deeply. She was stunning, in every form and facet. Donna left an immeasurable impression on every soul she touched. She was simply happy, genuine, full of joy and light and she spread all she had to those around her.
Donna was a breathing, walking, miracle from a young age. After a terrible car crash dr’s wanted to amputate her leg and told her it wouldn’t be possible to have children. After that day she worked the rest of her life proving them wrong.
She married Burton V Isaacson in the Logan Temple on July 9, 1956. He loved her fiercely, dated and took care of her until the day he died. They are still truest form of love that lives on past this mortal life.
She remains a devout member of the LDS church where She loved reading and studying the scriptures to gain knowledge of our Savior. She served in many callings and as a temple worker with Burt in the Logan Temple. Many times you would find her speaking and reminiscing fondly about the proselyting mission she served with Burt in Oahu, Hawaii.
For years she served as the ward’s humanitarian specialist where she crafted, sewed, and donated 100’s of blankets. She taught many of her talents that will continue to pass on for generations to come. She has provided warmth, love, and kindness through each stitch and her love will live on through many blankets wrapped around the shoulders of many she loved.
Donna spent years with her hands in the dirt, gardening for her family, friends, and neighbors around her. She was also awarded Grand Master Gardener in the Box Elder County Fair. With what she grew, she cooked! Her Vegetables, fruits, and yummy desserts will be missed deeply.
Along with the hundreds of children she babysat and raised in her daycare, Donna also valiantly raised her 6 children: , Kathy (Jim-deceased) Barney, Sherry (Roger) Anderson, Dede (Doug) Gardner, Michael (Stacie) Isaacson, Jeffrey (Nichole) Isaacson, and Karen (Ryan) Rich; 23 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert W. Ziegler and Winifred Hancey, her husband; Burt, her twins, her son-in-law; Jim Barney, and great grandson Kayden.
We extended a big thank you to everyone who supported Donna in the end stages of her legacy and especially want to thank CNS Hospice. Donna lives on in each of us and now her life of serving continues on through the other side of the veil.
