Doris Fay Marsh Shaw, our wonderful beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of Garland, UT passed away on Sunday Sept. 9, 2012 at McKay Dee Hospital, Ogden, UT, surrounded by her loving family. Doris was born Feb. 17, 1931 in Riverside, Utah to Mearle Clyde Marsh and Delta Bowcutt. She grew up in Willard, Utah and graduated from Box Elder High School in 1949. She earned an associate’s degree from Weber State College in Business and a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in Secondary Education. She married the love of her life Graham C. Shaw III on Sept. 29, 1955, in the Salt Lake Temple. She worked as a secretary for college professors and at Hill AFB. She taught at Park City High School, and Stevens Henagar Business College. She choreographed and taught dances for operettas and played on a boy’s baseball team. Doris was a gifted and talented singer, beginning her career in 1st grade with her first solos, and continued by singing in operas and solos through high school, BYU, and beyond, she studied 2 years under Richard P Condie, then director of the Tabernacle Choir. She began and then turned down a career as a professional opera singer opting to instead raise her children. Doris was a talented seamstress, amazing cook, and enjoyed working with children in 4-H, and Cub Scout programs and recently assisted preschool instruction at Creative Corner Preschool. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, working as ward chorister and in the primary for many years. She was a temple worker in the Logan temple and served a mission with her husband in the Anaheim California Mission. Doris is survived by her husband and six children, Pamela (Kim) Christensen, Ogden, UT ; Gaylene (Steven) Bickmore, Evergreen, CO; Gary (Ann) Shaw, Garland, UT; William (Sonya) Shaw, Mantua, UT; Michael (Marti) Shaw, Mantua, UT; Suzette (Joe) Deakin, Tremonton, UT, 32 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by parents, and siblings, Mearle Clyde Marsh, Gayle Marsh, Leon Marsh, William Dale Marsh, and Deila Joy Kirkham and grandson, Beau Bickmore. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 15 at 2:00 pm at the Garland Tabernacle (140 West Factory, Garland). Viewings will be held Fri September 14 from 6 to 8 pm at the Rudd funeral home in Garland (1234 S. Main, Garland), and Saturday September 15 prior to services from 12:30 to 1:30pm at the Garland Tabernacle. Interment will be in the Willard Cemetery.
