Dorothy Hurley

Loving wife, mom, grandma, and great grandma, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013, surrounded by family and friends. Dorothy was born July 26th, 1929, in Leadville, Colorado; to Thomas R. Brennan and Mary Elizabeth Welch Brennan. She was raised in Park City, Utah and graduated from Park City High School in 1947. She worked for Park City Telephone Company for many years, while living at Mrs.Davich’s home. She married Dr. John (Jack) B. Hurley on October 10, 1956, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Park City, Utah. Their honeymoon was spent in Yellowstone National Park. They later moved to Tremonton, Utah where he started his dental practice, where she supported him in running the office. They were married for 42 years. They had four beautiful children, Kathleen Ann (deceased), John Thomas, Sharon Marie, and Patricia Michelle. Many of Dorothy’s greatest joys were her family, and friends. She spent many wonderful days cooking family meals, planting flowers & helping at Teresa’s flower shop, planning family holiday & swimming parties, travelling the country with family & friends. Island Park was her home away from home. There were many great memories of fishing, floating, snowmobiling, 4th of July celebrations, and picking wild flowers at the cabin. She loved teaching, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they would all consider her one of their very best friends, and will miss her very much. She is survived by her children: John T. Hurley of Tremonton, UT, Sharon M. Hurley of Salt Lake City, UT, and Patricia M. Hurley, of Garland, UT, Stewart Wilson of Tremonton, UT, her sister Kathy (Dom) O’Neill Lepore, her nine grandchildren, Andrea (Skyler) Edwards, Jonathon (Kassie) Rhodes, Ashley Rhodes, Hilary Stark, Abigail Stark, Amber (Ray)Wilson – Leudtke, and her beautiful great-grandchildren, Landon, Mallory, Kate Ann, Isabella, and Carter. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, her brothers, and her oldest daughter. Funeral Services will be held at the old St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Park City, 121 Park Avenue, Tuesday March, 12, 2013, at 1:00 pm. Friends and family may also visit Monday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, in Tremonton. Interment, Park City, UT Cemetery following the funeral. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr.Jan-Erik Schow, and Dr. Ali Ben-Jacobs, and their nurses and staff for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, in Salt Lake City, or Bear River Valley Hospital, in Tremonton, UT.
