Bear River City – Dorothy Mable (Dixie) Wilson Ramsdell, 80, wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away September 6, 2014 at the Bear River Care Center in Tremonton, Utah.
She was born February 11, 1934 in Logan, Utah, a daughter of Harry Thomas (Dick) Wilson Jr. and Carrie Brenchley Thorpe Wilson. At the age of 9, she moved with her family to Riverside and then to Tremonton. She graduated from Bear River High School and later attended classes at BYU.
She was the oldest of four children; Tommy Wilson, Shirlee (Blum) Wilson, and Vickie (Baker) Wilson.
She met Dee Luke Ramsdell in 1949 and they were married on March 26, 1954 in Tremonton, Utah. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple on June 24, 2006. They lived and raised their family in Bear River City, Utah where they had four children; Scott Dee Ramsdell (deceased), Susan (Steve) Chadaz, Julie Ramsdell, and Joel Luke (Angie) Ramsdell.
Dixie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was active in the Bear River City 2nd Ward. She loved to sing and was a member of the Bear River High Choir, ward choir, and sang with a group called the Double Trio.
Dixie loved to cook. Her famous Raisin Filled Cookies and Chicken Dumpling Soup have been traded and bartered for years especially during the deer hunts. Her hands were always busy as she would crochet and knit gifts for her friends and family. She enjoyed quilting and especially loved quilting with friends in Bear River City. Because of her love for her family, she became a sports enthusiast by watching children and grand-children in all sports. She enjoyed Monday night football with her husband but on occasion they were caught watching Phantom of the Opera.
Dixie worked at Dr. Jack Johnson’s office as a receptionist and learned how to be a nurse which she used to bless others throughout her life. She also worked and helped her husband with the Betterway Insulation Company as the secretary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, and her son Scott.

Funeral services will be held, Thursday, September 11th at the Bear River City LDS church, 5870 North, 4700 West at 11 am. There will be a viewing prior to the funeral service from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Friends and family may call from 6-8 pm Wednesday night September 10th at Roger’s and Taylor’s Funeral Home in Tremonton, 111 North, 100 East. Burial will be in the Bear River Cemetery.
