Dorothy Rose

December 12, 1929 — August 20, 2015

Our dear wife, mother, and grandmother, Dorothy Jean Evans Rose, passed away August 20, 2015, in Tremonton, Utah, surrounded by her loving family.

Dorothy was born December 12, 1929, in Ogden, Utah, to LeRoy Eckles and Dorthea Butler Evans.  She married her eternal sweetheart, Gary Rose, on August 21, 1948.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Utah LDS Temple.   Gary and Dorothy spent sixty-seven years together building a life and family that she deeply cherished.

Dorothy grew up in Ogden, Utah, where she loved her cheerleading days at Lewis Junior High School, and her Zeta Girls Club at Ogden High School.  Sixty-seven years after graduation she still had cherished friendships with her club friends.  For most of their married life, Dorothy and Gary lived in Park Valley, Utah, where she faithfully served the people of the valley as the postmistress for thirty-seven years.

Mom’s most important occupation was as a wife and mother.  She was a master homemaker!   She took great pride in her home and yard in her beloved Park Valley.  She loved everything about being a wife, mother, and grandmother.  We, her family, will be eternally grateful for her example of unwavering love.

Dorothy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She served in the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society auxiliaries of the Church.  She cherished her time as the Relief Society President in the Park Valley Ward.  Dorothy was also a wonderful support to Gary in all of his church callings.  She loved the gospel, loved studying the scriptures, and especially loved sharing her beautiful testimony of the Savior Jesus Christ.  Mom’s greatest joy in life was her family and she wanted nothing more than to know that her family walked in truth and righteousness.

Mom is survived by her loving husband, her five children – Gregory Guy (Wendy) serving in the Pennsylvania Philadelphia Mission, Nancy Kathleen (Brent) Scott of Salt Lake City, Brent LeRoy (Janet) of Park Valley, Christie (Scott) Sandall of Tremonton, and Sheri (Robert) Payne, of Tremonton – and an amazing posterity of twenty grandchildren and forty-five (and counting) great –grandchildren, as well as two brothers, Glenn and Larry Evans.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, two brothers, and her infant grandson, Wade Brent Rose.

We, her children, are so grateful for the loving devotion that Dad showed to Mom throughout her life and, most importantly, during the last four years.  We express our deep gratitude to those who tenderly cared for Mom and her needs at Willow Glen Care Center in Brigham City, Utah.  We also wish to thank the staff at Bear River Care Center for their compassionate care of Mom in the final days of her life.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at 12:30 p.m. in the Park Valley LDS Chapel, with a viewing to be held prior to the service from 10:30 -12:00 p.m.   A viewing will also be held Monday, August 31, 2015, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home at 111 N 100 E in Tremonton, Utah.  Interment will be in the Park Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Box Elder County Tough Enough to Wear Pink Foundation at Wells Fargo Bank, Tremonton, Utah.
