TREMONTON—Dorothy Lula Jones Garfield, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend passed away at the age of 93 February 11, 2012. Dorothy was born October 7, 1918 in Malad, Idaho, a daughter of Thomas and Lula Jones. She married Milton Day Garfield, of Tremonton, Utah, on September 18, 1940 in the Logan LDS Temple and they were married for sixty wonderful years. Surviving are her loving children Carol (Dr. Robert, deceased) Friedli, Boise, Idaho; John Owen (Bette) Garfield, Island Park, Idaho; Colleen (Daniel) Browne, Budapest, Hungary. She will also be missed by her eleven grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Milton Day Garfield, two sons, Milton Douglas Garfield, and Dennis Day Garfield; by two brothers, Vernon and Jenkin Jones, and sisters LaPriel Jones and Ethel Jones Welsh. Dorothy was a loving mother of five children. She loved to cook three big, square meals for her family and husband. She was happiest when at home caring for her husband and family. Dorothy graduated from Utah State Agricultural College in June, 1939. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in English and a triple minor in French, Speech and Physiology. She taught for one year at Honeyville, Utah. Dorothy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many organizations of the church including Stake Relief Society Presidency, Ward In-service leader, Relief Society teacher, Primary teacher, Sunday School teacher, visiting teacher for over fifty years. She and her husband Day served together for five years as ordinance officiators in the Logan Temple. Dorothy’s viewing will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 11:00-12:30 at the Rogers-Taylor Funeral Home, 111 No. 100 E Tremonton. A Funeral service will be held at the Rogers-Taylor Funeral Home, also on Saturday at 1:00. Interment Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
