Elaine Hunsaker Shuman, 91, died Friday, February 22, 2019 at her home in Oceanside, California.
She was born March 24, 1927, in Elwood, UT. She married her high school sweetheart and stand partner, Forest Kay Shuman, on October 17, 1945 in the Salt Lake Temple. Kay and Elaine lived in Brigham City, UT for 18 years. In 1962, they moved to Redlands, CA, and settled in Oceanside in 1975.
Elaine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She had a knack for making those around her feel loved and important. She was an engaging teacher, an excellent homemaker and a fun-loving listener. She especially enjoyed music. Elaine served steadily throughout her life as a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Elaine is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Forest Kay Shuman, her parents, Burnice and Elna Hunsaker, her brothers Ken and Lewis Hunsaker and her great-grandson, Eli Makani Thames.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Barbara Shuman of Murrieta, CA; daughters and sons-in-law Paige and Richard Gobel of Ogden, UT and Elan and Mike McMahan of Carlsbad, CA; sister Edith Bronson of Plymouth, UT; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in Tremonton, UT at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home on Saturday, March 2 with a visitation beginning at noon and a service at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Oceanside, CA at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2080 California Street, on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 11 am.
