Eldon Munns

Eldon T. Munns, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep September 6, 2011 at his home in Garland. He was born on December 5, 1919 to Frank and Mable Udy Munns of Garland. He attended Garland Elementary and graduated from Bear River High School. He married his sweetheart, Alta Rhodes of East Garland, on November 22, 1945 in Garland. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. He was an Elder in the Garland 1st Ward, LDS Church. Eldon was a WWII Vet where he served his country for 4 years. Farming was his life on the family farm in Garland. He enjoyed working on the farm, being outdoors, fishing and hunting. In the fall a number of army buddies would stay and hunt pheasants on the farm and tell stories. Eldon served as the Garland Cemetery Chairman for 35 years. He had a great sense of humor and would always tease his grandchildren. Surviving is his wife, Alta. His children; daughter in law Paula and Jerry Allred (Tremonton), Daughter Sue Poulter and Len Allen (Garland/SLC), son in law Rex Leatham (Eden), and sons Clint and Brenda Munns, Jay and Debbie Munns (Garland); 24 grandchildren and 42 great grand children, brother Boyd Munns and 2 sisters Annie Lee and Colleen Haws. Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gene; son Terry, daughters Jody and Becky and son in law Thad Poulter. Services will be held at Rudd Funeral Home with a public viewing on Friday evening, September 9 from 6-8. Graveside services will be held at the Garland Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 11:30 with full military honors. In lieu of flowers make donations to the Garland Cemetery beautification fund. Donations will be received at the Rudd Funeral Home.
