Emily Jensen

Emily Roberts Jensen, 98, passed away on May 25, 2018 in Logan, Utah. She was born June 20, 1919 in Logan, Utah to John J. and Catherine Petersen Roberts. She married M. Rex Jensen on June 6, 1939 in the Logan LDS Temple.

Emily graduated from Logan High School and attended the Collegiate School of Beauty for training and licensing in Cosmetology in California and Utah. She was active in many school organizations serving as PTA President in three schools. She also served as president of the Garland Ladies Self Culture Club as well as Captain of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Emily was an active member of the LDS church serving in many capacities, including Relief Society President, Primary President, MIA organist, and Ward Chorister. Emily, along with her husband Rex, were called to teach in the LDS Church Education System in Western Samoa from 1971-1973. They also served a full-time mission in the Micronesia Guam Mission from 1984- 1986. Emily wrote and directed musical programs with the youth and also for the Samoan and Gilbertese people.

Emily was preceded in death by her husband, father and mother, 7 brothers, one sister, one grandchild, and one son-in-law.

Surviving are her four children: DeAnn (Jim) Clark of Draper, Robert (Sharon) Jensen of Garland, Richard (Carol) Jensen of North Logan, Michael (Linda) Jensen of Shelley, Idaho; eighteen grandchildren; fifty great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 in the Garland 3rd Ward LDS Chapel (175 S. Main, Garland). A viewing will be held at the church prior to the funeral service from 11-12:30 p.m. Interment in the Garland Cemetery.
