Gary Nielson

October 19, 1930 — August 10, 2017

Tremonton- Gary L. Nielson, 87, passed away on August 10, 2017, in Tremonton, Utah. He was born on October 19, 1930, in Garland, Utah to Marvin Leroy & Cora Bell Loveland Nielson. Gary was raised in Garland where he attended Bear River High School.  On October 2, 1950, he married Leila Jean Woodruff Nielson.

He served in the U.S. Navy as a Coxswain.

Gary worked several different jobs throughout his life including, farming, Golden Spike Equipment, Wagstaff Oil, Brough Excavation, Peterson Tractor, U&I Sugar Company as a Tare Lab Supervisor, and Utah Department of Agriculture in the Weights and Measures Department from where he retired.

He loved to tinker and build equipment for farming, fishing, and riding his favorite horse Ginger.

Gary is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He served in the Logan LDS Temple.

Gary is survived by children: Lynn W (Vicki) Nielson, David W (Sheila) Nielson, Marvin W (Maryanne) Nielson, Penny (Lee) Larson, Jody Nielson Wells, and Darin Nielson; sister: Margaret Ann (Ferrell E.) Udy; brother: Jay L (Judy) Nielson; many grandchildren; and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings: Marcel L Nielson, Barbara N Madsen, Renee (Lowell) Johnson; and grandson, Gene Larson.

Funeral services for Gary will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in the Riverview LDS Chapel (10750 N. Highway 38- Deweyville). Viewings will be held on Tuesday evening August 15, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. at the Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home (111 N. 100 E.- Tremonton) and at the church prior to the funeral service from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment in the Elwood Cemetery.
