Gayl Dean Hess

Gayl Dean Hess, 83, passed away January 11, 2025, at Cache Valley Assisted Living Center in Providence, Utah. Gayl was born on March 21, 1941, to Stirl Dean Hess and Lucile Brough.

Gayl lived in Randolph, Utah and Provo, Utah and then at the age of 14 he moved to Fielding, Utah to live with his grandparents. At the age of 17, Gayl joined the army and served in Germany. After his service in the military, he married Helen Louise Pingel on February 12, 1961, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Gayl and Helen spent many years living in Garland, Utah. Gayl was a member of the Teamster Union Local 222 until he retired. Gayl enjoyed hunting and fishing with his uncles and friends. One of his favorite pastimes was playing his guitar and drinking beer with his uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen, his parents, one brother, Red, one sister, Norma Brough, grandson, Braiden, great-grandson, Oliver, and great-granddaughter, Aspen. He is survived by his children Cindy Hess, Brigham City, UT, Terri Hess (Kent) Idaho Falls, ID, Larry (Julie) Hess, East Garland, UT, Cody (Julie) Hess, North Garland, UT, 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Jane Conover and brother Butch Brough.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the VA and staff of Cache Valley Assisted Living Center for their special care.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 11:30 A.M. at the Fielding UT Cemetery with a family viewing held prior at Rudd Funeral Home- Tremonton (111 N 100 E- Tremonton) from 10:30 A.M.-11:00 A.M.
