Gerry (Maxine) Leak Thompson
November 25th, 1938 - January 29th, 2018
Our sweet loving Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma and friend peacefully passed away on January 29th, 2018 after years of struggles related to Alzheimer’s at Beehive Assisted Living in Brigham City, Utah. She was born on November 25th, 1938 to Gerald (Jack) Leak and Luetta Grace Petersen Leak. She was married to Gordon Wise Thompson and from this union came three handsome sons. She is survived by three children: Kellee Lee (Krissy) Thompson, Kris G. (Bambi) Thompson, Kasey Shawn (Jennifer) Thompson. Nine grandchildren: Natasha (Bart) Bess, Darci Fieuw, Whitney (Mick) Morgan, Shalee (Josh) Knowles, Tyson (Teanna) Thompson, Shawnee Thompson, Jackson Thompson, Josie Thompson, Jasey Thompson. Eleven great-grandchildren: Tyler Bess, Rylee Bess, Kambree Bess, Emery Bess, Ayden Fieuw, Brielle Fieuw, Gavyn Fieuw, Evie Jo Morgan, Asher Knowles, Destiny Thompson, Chevelle Thompson. Mom's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her life. She never missed anything we were involved in and was ever so proud of everything we did and achieved in our lives. She made it a point to always express her love for us every time she saw us. She is also survived by her brother Dee (Glenna) Leak. Preceding her in death are her parents and one great-granddaughter, Morgan Shae Harris.
Mom worked at Thiokol Corporation, and Contel (Citizens) Telephone Company from which she retired. She loved cleaning, working in her yard, knitting, reading, sports, staying warm, and above all education and learning. Her idea of a perfect meal was Coke, Pop-Tarts, chocolate, and anything with sugar - and apparently it worked because she lived a healthy, wonderful 79 years of life!
Mom was always tiny in stature, but had the heart of a giant. She spent her life silently helping those in need. Whether it was donating clothes to the homeless shelter, food to the pantries, supplies to the Women's & Children's Crisis Center, paying for missionaries, or giving to sick cancer patients, Mom was always aware of what was going on around her and who needed help.
She will mostly be remembered as the quick-witted pretty lady that brought so much happiness into the lives of so many. Some examples of that happiness included sleepovers with the grandkids, car rides all over the valley, cards with the girlfriends, gas station snacking, and mostly chatting with her endless amount of friends.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Integrity Hospice Care (Kaylee), Beehive Assisted Living (Martha), Hugh and EthelAnn Clark, Merideth Weese, Suzanne Bowcutt, and Janet Carter for all your unconditional love, support, and assistance. Her family is so grateful to all the wonderful friends she has had through the years. We know Mom has cherished each and everyone of your friendships.
