Glenn LeRoy Holland, age 82, passed away peacefully and was met by many loved ones he has missed immensely on Monday, May 6, 2024. Glenn was born September 19, 1941 in Tremonton, Utah to LeRoy and Dorothy Nicholas Holland.
Glenn always said he had a wonderful childhood growing up on the family farm with Tamara, Boyd, Leon, and Marie. He loved his siblings fiercely and looked up to each one for their different strengths and talents. They made him a better person. He only spoke the best of them and was always their biggest defender. He shared a love of animals with his parents who taught him how to be a great horseman. At a very early age, dad milked cows and farmed on the family homestead south of Tremonton. Glenn took a lot of pride in his Holland and Nicholas heritage and, because of that, he did his best to be a good steward of his name, land, and animals.
Glenn met Becky (Coombs) when she worked at a feed store in Tremonton, and they married on March 1, 1968 in the Logan LDS temple. He brought the city girl to the farm where they made a great team by working tirelessly side by side on the dairy for 47 years until they moved to Mantua in 2014. They were married for 53 years until she passed away in 2021.
When Dad could get away from the farm, he loved camping and horseback riding with his cousin, Tamara, and Ed because Tamara had a special way of getting dad to relax and have fun. Some of his best memories of growing up always had Tamara in them. We are sure he and Tamara will be getting up to all kinds of mischief now that they are reunited again.
Dad was a gifted horseman but he lacked the confidence and time to dedicate to it. Instead, he enjoyed going with his dad “horse trading” and always had a few horses at home. He found his passion in draft horses, and while he didn’t enjoy taking them to horse pulls as much as his dad, he did love competing in horse shows. Ladd and Don were his favorite horses and became members of the family. Dad never found the same enjoyment with horses after they were gone. There wasn’t a show that he, Ladd and Don didn’t win. Glenn and his cousin, Eli Anderson, were an unbeatable match because Eli had the beautiful wagons and Dad provided equally beautiful horses. They participated in many parades, like the Days of 47, and took part in the Golden Spike Rodeo’s grand entry for many years.
Glenn is survived by his children, Lisa Hendricks (Russ), Jill Hunting (Darrell), and Wayne Holland (Misty). Brother, Leon (Marilynn) sister, Marie (Terrell) Sorensen, grandchildren, Samantha, Hannah, Logan, Ethan (Macy), Eliza, Paden, Sophie, Reagan, Lincoln, and Emmet and step-grandchildren Hailey, Landon, Kelsey and Brindley Hunting. He is preceded in death by his wife Becky (Coombs), his parents, brother, Boyd and cousin (another sister) Tamara (Ed) Dayton.
