Glenna Hales

Glenna Packer Hales was born to Virgil Oliver and Opha Rachel Mantlo Packer, July 30, 1912 and left this earthly existence Nov. 15, 2012 at the Bear River Valley Care Center in Tremonton, Utah. Glenna was born in Fielding, Utah, the oldest of nine children. She grew up at the Utah Power Cutler plant, (Wheelon) and Fielding. She attended Bear River High School until her junior year when they moved to Ogden where she graduated from Ogden High School. While attending BRHS she met Stephen A. Hales and they were married in the Salt Lake temple on Aug. 30, 1933. Steve passed away June 29, 1997. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many church jobs in the Primary, Young Women's and Relief Society. She was a member of the DUO, Simada and the Tremonton Civic League. She was a volunteer Pink Lady at the Bear River hospital for many years. She loved to knit and crochet and made many lovely things for her family throughout the years. She loved to read, sew, golf, play canasta, camping and traveling with her beloved Steve and family. They were fortunate to be able to travel to Japan, Hong Kong, Hawaii and Alaska as well as many different states. She was a loving mother to Sandra (Robert) Michaelis, Kennard (Delorise), Richard (Shirley), Paul(Arlene) and Brian (Colleen). Grandmother to 20 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren and 46 great-great grandchildren and is also survived by a sister Maurine (Joel) Nelson and a brother VerNon (Carol) Packer. She was greeted in heaven by her parents, her loving husband Steve and grandchildren Sara Jane, Mark, Richard, Lana and several great grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters. Special thanks to all the caregivers at Bear River Care Center for the years of loving care they have given our mother, grandmother and sister. Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 19 at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Viewings will be held Sunday, Nov. 18 from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be at the Riverside, Utah cemetery.
