November 25, 1935 - January 9, 2015

Harold Jay Stephens of Bear River City, Utah passed away January 9, 2015 from a tragic A.T.V. accident doing what he loved most with friends. He was born on November 25, 1935 in Pocatello, Idaho, the oldest son of Mary Esther Stimpson and Harold Jay Stephens.
He attended many schools in the Ogden area graduating from Weber High School.
He entered the U.S. Air Force in April of 1954. He attended Cryptograph School at Scott A.F.B. in Belleville, Illinois and was also stationed at a radar site in St Johns, Newfoundland. He married Mona Smith in St Johns Newfoundland and later divorced.
Upon completion of the Air Force tour he returned to Ogden and attended Weber State University, where he received his Bachelor Degree.
He was employed at Hill Air Force Base in the communication and Cryptograph communication department. While working at Hill Field he met the Love of his life Sharyn Carter Johnson. They were married in 1977 and later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple.
He served as Vice President on the Davis County school board and member of North Davis County Refuse Board. He was then offered a job with the Davis County School District as a manager of computer technology, where he retired in 1999. Shortly after his retirement he started driving school bus for the Box Elder School District until May 2014.
Jay was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in several callings. He and his wife worked in the Ogden Temple for 2 years, they also served a mission in Newfoundland for 18 months where he served as Branch President.
He is Survived by his wife , Sharyn, Children: Gail Lind of Riverside, California; Randy (Jan) Stephens of Linden, California; Wendy True of Stockton, California; Gregg (Joyce) Johnson of Tremonton, Utah; Derek (Dusty) Johnson of Henderson, Nevada; and Tracey Di Esposti of Layton, Utah. 21 Grandchildren and 14 Great Grandchildren, 3 Brothers: Craig (Verdene) Stephens, Paul (Debbie) Stephens, and Scott (Merlene Deceased) Stephens, 1 Sister: Cheryl (LeRoy) Wild and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in Death by his Parents, 1 Brother Brent Stephens, and 1 grandson Casey Stephens.
Funeral Services will be held Friday January 16, at 11:00 am at the Bear River City Church, located at 5870 N 4700 W. Friends and Family may call from 9:00-10:30 am prior to services. Friends and Family may call Thursday from 6:00-8:00 pm at Rudd Funeral Home located at 1234 S Main Garland, UT.
