Ione Dunn Newman Ione Dunn Newman left for home from River Meadows, Alpine, Utah on July 17, 2011. Ione was born October 19, 1916 in Perry, Utah to Wesley Hyrum Dunn and Sylvia Christina Wight Dunn. During her childhood the family lived in Utah, Wyoming, California, and Idaho. She married John D (Jack) Newman on November 22, 1933 in Ogden, Utah. This union was sealed for eternity in April of 1934. They earned their living in the farming, milling and trucking industry. Later she worked as the supervisor of the kitchen and dining facilities for the Box Elder County Nursing Homes in Brigham and then in Tremonton, Utah. Jack died on November 18, 1977. Ione fulfilled a mission to the Tampa Bay Mission in 1983-84. She was a Logan Temple worker for seventeen years and had a goal of doing 100 endowments each year until her health would not let her attend. Family history work was a favored interest. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, Brother Leon W. Dunn, Sister-in-law Wilma A. Dunn, Sister Lois D. Cooke, Brother-in-law Campbell Cooke, Daughter-in-law Mardi S. Newman, Grandson Jayson Dunn, and Great Grandson Garrett Nish. Surviving are: Daughter Myrl N. (Grant) Nish, Tremonton, Utah; John D (Geneal) Newman, Alpine, Utah; Wesley D. (Linnea) Newman, Anchorage, Alaska; thirty grandchildren, and forty-three great grandchildren. All her grandsons became Eagle Scouts. The family would like to thank the staff at The River Meadows Care Center for the great care that Ione was given. A special thank you would also like to be expressed to her neighbors Arnold, Margo and James for all they did for Ione. Funeral services will be held Thursday July 21, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Tremonton 5th Ward Chapel located at 300 South Tremont St. A viewing will be held before the funeral from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the church. Interment in the Valley View Cemetery.
