Irene Holman

CLEARFIELD – Irene A Holman, 98, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2013 at McKay-Dee Hospital following a brief illness. Irene was born May 2, 1915 to Wilford and Roselinda Allred, in Chester, Utah the eighth of 11 children. She grew up in Garland, Utah and graduated from Bear River High School. On June 24, 1936, Irene married Harry Holman in Ogden, Utah. Their vows were later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Harry & Irene had one daughter, Sharon Dugan. The couple spent the first 38 years of their marriage in southern California where Irene worked for Pacific Bell Telephone Company. After retiring in 1974, they returned to Utah and made their home in Clearfield. Harry died on Sep. 18, 1990.

Irene was an active lifelong member of the LDS church, serving in many callings including stake Relief Society and Sunday school boards as well as ward Relief Society President. She was a volunteer at the Heritage Senior Citizens Center in Clearfield for 17 years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, ceramics and making porcelain dolls, for which she won numerous awards at county and state fairs. Irene is survived by her two grandsons, Steven Dugan and Paul (Mischalynne) Dugan, two great-grandchildren, Courtney (Aaron)Page and Amanda Amanda Dugan and three great-great-grandchildren, all of California, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, and daughter.

Graveside services will be held under the direction of Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00 A.m. at the Bear River city Cemetery. As Irene requested, no viewing will be held. In lieu of flowers please donate to the LDS perpetual Education Fund. The family would like to offer special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Dave Gerrard, Veronica of Wasatch Home Helpers and to Irene’s many special friends and neighbors. She will be dearly missed.
