Irene Payne

June 19, 1927 — October 7, 2013

Biography

Irene Isaacson Payne peacefully left this earth on October 7, 2013 to join her loving husband, DeVerl Payne and her favorite dog, Petey; parents, Edwin and Dora Bertha (Korth) Isaacson and siblings. She will be greatly missed by everyone she touched with her laughter and kindness.

Born in 1927 on a farm in East Garland, Utah, Irene always shared fond memories of her childhood there. She attended Bear River High School where she met and later married a handsome young man, DeVerl Payne, in the Logan LDS temple on Nov. 16, 1944. This led her to live briefly in San Diego while DeVerl trained on a Naval Base nearby during WWII. After the war, the two started a family in Tremonton, UT, where they enjoyed living in a close community of friends and family the rest of their lives.

Irene served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was always an example of faith, service and love. She enjoyed working many years as a receptionist for Dr. Jack Johnson. She loved to travel, especially to tropical areas, and was an excellent cook and seamstress. She will always be remembered for her love of children and for her kind and gentle soul, always happy and ready to build others with her words and works. Irene often remarked that her family was her greatest source of joy.

She is survived by her children, Wayne (Shauna) Payne, Geri (Mike) Margetts, Becky (Dee) Duncan, Bob (Sheri) Payne, Lisa Payne (Ray Feldt); 14 grandchildren/17 great-grandchildren; and a Brother, Burton (Donna) Isaacson.
